Refund policy
Your payment is four fees in one charge, and only one of them is ours. Our fee has our refund policy. The other three are governed by Arizona, and the rules there are more generous than people expect if you never started the course.
The quick answer
- Within 3 days, course not started
- Everything back, less a $15 administrative fee. That fee is ours, and it is our policy, not a state rule.
- Never started, and past 3 days
- Our course fee is not refunded, but Arizona still requires the state fee, the state surcharge and your court diversion fee back. Tell us and we start it.
- Course started
- No refund of the three state and court fees. Arizona does not allow it. Opening the first segment is what counts as starting.
- Your citation was never filed, or the court dismissed it
- The three state and court fees come back, whatever stage you are at.
- We cancel, or you turn out to be ineligible
- Everything back, no fee at all.
What you are paying for
Your payment is four separate fees in one charge: our course fee, the Arizona state fee, the state surcharge, and the diversion fee your court sets. Three of the four are not ours. We collect them because Arizona requires every fee to be paid before a student begins, and we hold them in trust until we pass them on.
This matters for refunds, because the two halves follow different rules. Our fee follows the policy on this page. The other three follow Arizona rule 7-205, and we do not get to choose.
Our course fee, and our three day window
You have three days from the moment your payment succeeds. Ask inside that window, with no time credited to your course, and we refund our course fee less a $15 administrative fee. The clock runs on calendar days, not business days.
That window and that $15 are our own policy on our own fee. Arizona does not require either one, and we would rather say so than imply the state is the reason.
The three fees that are not ours
Arizona rule 7-205 decides these, not us. Once you begin the course they are not refundable at all: they are committed on your behalf the moment you start.
If you never begin, they come back. If you pay and then do not take the course and do not ask to reschedule, we refund the state fee, the state surcharge and your court diversion fee 30 days after your court date, or sooner if you tell us you are not coming. You do not have to be inside any three day window for this.
They also come back if the officer never filed your citation with the court, or if the court dismisses it on its own motion.
One thing worth knowing: getting these three back also restores your eligibility, so a future citation can still be handled this way.
What counts as starting
The course has started the moment our server credits any instructional time to you. Signing in, reading your dashboard, or looking at the list of segments does not start it. Pressing play on the first segment does.
We judge this on our own record, not on what a browser reports, which is the same record Arizona would audit.
When you get everything back
There are cases where the $15 does not apply and you are refunded in full: if we cannot verify your identity documents and cancel your enrollment, if it turns out your citation was never eligible for a defensive driving dismissal, if you were charged twice for the same citation, or if we cancel for any reason of our own.
Withdrawing the product is our doing, not you changing your mind, and the administrative fee exists for the second thing.
How to ask
Email [email protected] from the address you enrolled with, and include your citation number. We answer within one business day.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with. Your bank usually shows it within five to ten business days once we have issued it.
What a refund does not do
A refund cancels your enrollment with us. It does not do anything about your citation, your court date, or any deadline the court has given you. If you have a date coming up, contact the court directly.
